Privacy
No accounts, no ads, no tracking by other companies. This is what happens to your data, read from the code (updated 6 Oct 2026).
Stays on your phone
- Your saved places and the last forecast for each, in your browser's storage, so the app opens instantly. Remove a place and its data goes with it.
- One cookie,
wx=1, with no identifier in it. It tells our server you are a person using the app rather than a datacenter scraper.
Your first visit
- Before you pick a place, we show the forecast for the city your connection appears to come from. That guess is Cloudflare's, made from your IP address as part of delivering the page; we use it once, do not store it on our server, and save it on your phone as your first place, marked "approximate". "Use exact location" replaces it.
Sent when you look at a forecast
- The place's coordinates go to our server, which rounds them to about 5 km, asks Open-Meteo for that 5 km square and keeps the answer for up to a few hours for everyone else in it. Open-Meteo sees our server, not you.
- In Portugal, the nearest IPMA district's official warnings are looked up the same way.
- "Use my location" asks your phone for your position and sends it to our server, which rounds it to about 1 km and looks up the place name with OpenStreetMap's Nominatim.
- Searching for a place sends what you type straight from your browser to Open-Meteo's place search.
Counting visits
We count visits with our own analytics (kstats), sent to this site's own address. It records the pages and taps in a visit, your country, and the kind of device and browser. A visitor is counted with a daily code made from your IP address and browser; the IP address itself is not stored.
Server logs
Our server runs on Cloudflare, whose short-lived request logs can include the IP address a request came from. Our own log lines record the coordinates rounded to about 1 km and the network operator, not your address.
Feedback
If you send feedback we keep your message, the kind you picked, the email you give (only to reply), the page and the kind of device.
